Exciting Edinburgh Waterfront Development Continues apace
Funded in partnership by the Scottish Government & the City of Edinburgh council, Edinburgh’s Waterfront development project continues, with its goals targeted clearly on creating a net zero carbon city . This is urban development and regeneration on a large scale on the former grounds the Maldevic Motor Carriage Company, a Gasworks and the site of parson Peebles that made transformers for power stations. ( Ref here)
According to Granton Waterfront Development’s Framework, the idea is to create a “new, vibrant, healthy and sustainable coastal quarter on Edinburgh’s Waterfront” ( Ref: Granton Waterfront Development Framework Feb, 2020). Plot 27 was designed to create 132 new homes- waterfront living with views of the River Forth and the Fife coastline.

Construction photographer James Thompson, of uk construction photography was commissioned to cover the progress of the build at Plot 27, Granton Harbour, Edinburgh. Main Contractor was McTaggart Construction. Steel Fabricator and Erector- J&D Pierce Contracts Ltd. James was involved mid-term with the structural steel work at an advanced stage. The first image below shows the steel structure at an early stage. It’s fascinating to be able to view the before and after images. Such an incredible amount of skilled work that is hidden to produce the final product. Affordable living accommodation in Edinburgh for those who want to live near the waterfront. James, our Commercial Photographer did interview a couple of residents who had recently moved in and they all spoke really positively of what it was like to live there. The plot is surrounded by canals and the river Forth. Scroll up and down this blog page to compare the old views against the new.
