Construction Photography Prices

Every construction photography project is different, so I price each commission around the scope, locations, intended use and practical requirements involved.

You do not need to arrive with a complete brief. If you are unsure what photography you need, which projects to prioritise or how best to structure the commission, I can help define the right approach before preparing a fixed project fee.

Everything agreed is included clearly in the quotation, with no hidden extras or unexpected invoices.

Before I Prepare Your Quote

Before preparing a quotation, I take time to understand what the photography needs to achieve, how the images will be used, the locations involved, your timescale and any site access or operational constraints.

If you already have a detailed brief or shot list, I will work from that. If not, I can help identify the key requirements and develop a practical plan.

This ensures the quotation reflects the real scope of the commission and gives you a clear fixed project cost before work begins.

★★★★★

James was a great communicator from the outset. We were reassured by his commercial approach, attention to detail and research prior to the shoot. The day went really well, despite not having the weather conditions we'd hoped for, and we were delighted with the quality of the photos. James is a consummate professional.

From initial enquiry to delivery of the shots James was extremely professional throughout. He took time to really understand the brief, did his research, worked very well with our on-site Project Manager and delivered us a suite of excellent photography.

What Determines the Project Fee

Four main factors are considered when preparing your quotation:

Objectives and Usage

What the photography needs to achieve, how the images will be used, which organisations require usage rights and how long those rights are needed.

Scope

What needs to be photographed, the number of locations, areas or phases involved, and the complexity of the agreed requirements.

Logistics

Site access, inductions, security requirements, operational restrictions, scheduling and any multi-site coordination required.

Travel

The locations involved and whether travel or overnight accommodation is required. These costs are agreed within the quotation rather than added unexpectedly afterwards.

How the images will be used is an important part of the quotation because photography supporting marketing, tenders and business development carries a different commercial value from internal project records. Usage requirements are discussed before the fee is confirmed.

What Is Included in Every Project Fee

  • Pre-shoot briefing and assistance developing the photography requirements
  • CSCS certified access and full site PPE
  • Risk assessment and method statement where required
  • Professional photography using appropriate commercial equipment
  • Post-production, colour correction and image preparation
  • High-resolution digital delivery through secure file transfer
  • Agreed usage rights confirmed in writing
  • Public liability and professional indemnity insurance

Your quotation will clearly confirm the photography required, locations, intended usage, delivery arrangements and anything else included within the agreed scope.

Aerial and Drone Photography

Aerial photography can be quoted as an optional part of a wider commission where it would provide useful project context, demonstrate scale or reveal work that cannot be properly appreciated from ground level.

I hold an A2 Certificate of Competency and can provide aerial photography where the location, airspace, permissions, weather and site conditions allow.

Any aerial photography requirements and associated costs are shown separately within the quotation, so there is no suggestion that drone coverage is automatically included within the standard project fee.

Multi-Site and National Projects

I support construction, engineering, industrial and commercial projects throughout the UK, including individual site commissions and larger photography programmes covering multiple locations.

Where several sites are involved, I can help structure the commission by region, phase or location group. This can make access planning, scheduling and project costs easier to manage.

Travel, accommodation and any multi-site coordination requirements are agreed before the booking is confirmed and included clearly within the quotation.

Payment Terms

A 50% deposit confirms the booking, with the balance payable on delivery of the edited images. These terms ensure the agreed dates and resources are reserved for your project.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a quote?
Contact me with whatever information you currently have, such as the project location, timescale and intended use of the images. You do not need a complete brief before getting in touch. I will respond within 24 hours and help identify any additional information needed to prepare the quotation.
Do you charge a day rate?
No. I price each commission as a project because photography requirements, site access, travel, intended usage and operational constraints rarely fit neatly into a standard day rate. You receive a clear fee based on the agreed scope before work begins.
How quickly can you schedule a project?
Availability depends on the location, access requirements and complexity of the commission. I normally confirm availability within 24 hours and will advise the earliest practical date. Urgent milestone, tender or reporting requirements can be discussed directly.
Do you work nationwide?
Yes. I photograph construction, engineering, industrial and commercial projects throughout the UK, with regular work across London, Cambridge, the South East, the Midlands and the North of England.
Can you handle multi-site projects?
Yes. Multi-site commissions can be structured by region, phase or location group. I coordinate directly with the relevant project contacts to help manage access, scheduling and consistency across every site.
What usage rights are included?
Usage rights are agreed as part of every quotation and confirmed in writing. The fee will reflect how the images will be used, which organisations require access to them and whether any wider third-party, press or long-term usage is required.
Can several companies use the photographs?
Yes, but multi-party usage must be agreed before the commission. This may include the main contractor, subcontractors, consultants, architects, developers or other project partners. The quotation will identify which organisations are licensed to use the images.
Do you sign confidentiality agreements?
Yes, where required. I am experienced in working on commercially sensitive and secure projects and understand the importance of confidentiality, controlled access and agreed publication restrictions.
What happens if weather affects the photography?
I monitor conditions before the planned visit and discuss any significant weather risk with you. Where the agreed photography cannot be completed properly or safely, suitable rescheduling arrangements will be agreed based on the circumstances of the project.
Are you CSCS certified?
Yes. I hold a valid CSCS card, carry full site PPE and work in accordance with project-specific access and safety requirements. Risk assessments and method statements can be provided where required.
Do you provide aerial and drone photography?
Yes. I hold an A2 Certificate of Competency and can provide aerial photography where permissions, airspace, weather and site conditions allow. Drone requirements are assessed and quoted separately as part of the overall project scope.
