Steel Fabrication Photography

Steel Fabrication Photography is a type of photography we are often asked to cover. It’s something we love to do, as the results are often spectacular or dramatic, yet it’s quite a challenging activity to photograph for numerous reasons. The major challenges are the huge variances in the quality and direction of the ambient light within the buildings. We have found this to differ enormously. Some buildings are very dark at one end, using old phosphorous lighting with blazing direct sun coming in through the other end.

Steel Fabrication Photography Light Challenges.

At first glance it would be simple to assume that you use the available lighting indoors and also the brightness of the Welder or Grinder to light your Fabrication Worker or activity, however, that will lead to several difficulties.

Steel Fabrication Photography Lighting Considerations.

So, the Steel Photography lighting considerations are important. Do you want to just show the welding and not the rest of the workshop, or steel fabrication shop or do you want to include some of the steel fabrication shop too? These are the things we consider as Professional Photographers prior to setting up the shoot. These questions are answered in advance during our briefing sessions with our clients.

Lighting the activities and the steel fabrication working environment.

As a company you may wish to focus on showing the scale of your working environment and all the other machinery and services you have to offer. If that is the case, then the lighting requirements and camera settings will be different to a close up of a welder for example.

So in essence, we are balancing several exposures, the light that is available, any flashlight we may us and then the necessary camera settings to either freeze, or blur action.

If this is a task you prefer not to do yourself and you require high quality images for your Website, Social Media, Rebranding or Publications then feel free to give us a call. We travel throughout the whole of the UK, have our own PPE and CSCS Card so we are available to go on site and visit your previous or current projects. We are happy to visit multiple construction sites in one day if that is feasible. Companies often ask us to visit their fabrication premises to capture headshots of the staff and also to capture staff action shots on construction sites too. We can provide all of these images for you, as well as Commercial Video and Time-lapse Photography/ Video.
